Are you concerned about the direction America is heading? Do you wonder if your children and grandchildren will understand and celebrate our precious experiment in self-government? In our often confused and divided nation, one thing is clear: young people are in desperate need of civic education.

You can help secure the future of freedom in America by partnering with Ashbrook in our bold new $20 million campaignFreedom. For the Next 250. Together we can revolutionize history and civics education nationwide.

Our Vision

Imagine a country where every student is equipped with a solid understanding of America’s history and Founding principles. At Ashbrook, we envision a future where informed patriots shape America’s destiny.

Why It Matters

Our Founders built a system of government that has made America the freest and most prosperous country in the history of the world. But self-government is fragile and depends on educated and informed citizens to preserve it.

Too many students today do not have a fundamental understanding of our history or their rights and responsibilities as citizens. The future of our Republic depends on reversing this trend. Young people must study the primary documents of America and discover why our country deserves their love.

Our Plan

Through our Freedom 250 campaign, we aim to raise the support needed to expand our current educational programs for students, teachers, and citizens by 50% and launch three new major national initiatives to bring Ashbrook to every student in America:

Ashbrook School of Civic Education

Establish an Ashbrook School of Civic Education to cultivate an elite corps of American history and civics teachers. This undergraduate program can become a model for the country to reach millions of students.

Digital Atlas for Teachers

Produce a Digital Atlas of primary sources to supplement or replace textbooks. This interactive online collection will be shared with American history and civics teachers in every school district across the country.

Blueprint for History and Civics

Create a comprehensive guide for American History and Civics Education. This guide will be made available to parents, educators, and decisionmakers around the country.

How You Can Help

With your partnership, you will be supporting the only organization that brings this unique and proven educational experience to all Americans. And thanks to a few generous supporters, every dollar will be matched up to $5 million!

We hope you will please join us. You can be part of this ambitious initiative and help secure the promise of America for generations to come!

After the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin famously replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Today, we must rise to Franklin’s challenge. We must preserve the Republic. And we will–but only If We Can Teach It.
