Once-in-a-Generation Gathering of Naval Vessels, Military Aircraft, and Tall Ships from 55 Nations Will Honor America's 250th Birthday
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Freedom 250 announced today that Vice President JD Vance will participate in and deliver remarks at the International Naval Review, International Aerial Review, and Sail 4th International Parade of Tall Ships on July 4, 2026, in New York Harbor. The historic celebration will feature the largest gathering of U.S. and international naval vessels, military aircraft, and tall ships ever assembled in American waters, creating a breathtaking tribute to the nation's 250th birthday.
Vice President Vance will join Acting Secretary of the Navy the Honorable Hung Cao, senior military leaders, foreign naval delegations, service members, and distinguished guests aboard USS Kearsarge, where he will deliver remarks commemorating America's semiquincentennial and honoring the service, sacrifice, and leadership that have secured freedom and prosperity for generations.
The celebration will transform New York Harbor into a showcase of American maritime strength, military excellence, and international cooperation. The event will draw participation from 55 nations, featuring warships, military aircraft, and a spectacular Parade of Sail led by tall ships from more than 20 countries.
"We are honored to welcome Vice President Vance to New York Harbor for this historic celebration," said Keith Krach, Chairman of Freedom 250. "For 250 years, this harbor has been America's gateway, a place where commerce, courage, and conviction came ashore and helped build the strongest nation in the world. On Independence Day, it becomes the stage for something extraordinary: a once-in-a-generation gathering of American and allied countries that reflects both the strength we've built and the optimism that carries us forward into our next 250 years."
The day will begin with the International Naval Review, a formal pass-in-review led by the Honorable Hung Cao, Acting Secretary of the Navy, aboard USS Farragut. As the destroyer transits New York Harbor, senior military leaders will review a fleet of U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied vessels assembled in formation. The ceremony will highlight operational readiness, naval power, and the alliances that have helped safeguard peace and prosperity around the world.
Following the International Naval Review, the celebration will continue aboard USS Kearsarge, the centerpiece of the day's festivities and reviewing platform for Vice President JD Vance, senior military leaders, and distinguished guests. Surrounded by warships, tall ships, and the iconic skyline of New York Harbor, the Vice President will deliver remarks commemorating America's 250th birthday, honoring the service and sacrifice of the men and women who defend the nation, and celebrating the strength, leadership, and freedom that have made the United States the greatest nation in the history of the world.
At the heart of the celebration will be the Sail 4th International Parade of Tall Ships. Led by the United States Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, the parade will feature majestic sailing vessels from more than 20 nations as they pass through New York Harbor in a dramatic display of maritime heritage and international friendship.
As the Parade of Sail unfolds, the skies above New York Harbor will come alive with the International Aerial Review. Military aircraft ranging from helicopters and heritage aviation formations to heavy transport aircraft and high-speed fighter jets will conduct a coordinated series of flyovers, connecting America's proud naval tradition with its unmatched aviation capabilities. The aerial review will culminate in a dramatic fighter jet salute over the harbor.
Together, the International Naval Review, International Aerial Review, and Sail 4th will create an unforgettable tribute to America's role as a maritime nation, a military power, and a global leader. The event will honor the generations of Americans who have served at sea and in the air while celebrating the alliances and partnerships that continue to promote peace, security, and freedom around the world.
